“Then come the lights shining on you from above. You are a performer. You forget all that you learned, the process of technique, the fear, the pain, you even forget who you are. You become one with the music, the lights, indeed with the dance.” – Shirley Maclaine
I chose this quote to remind you that all the hard work we do in technique classes and rehearsals enables you to let go and enjoy the magic of being on stage. Of course, we have a lot of details to take care of before opening night on Friday 12/5! I hope you all took care of your bodies over break. We are back in full swing Monday 12/1/14!
Weekly Schedule –
This is a different week. You will report to your regular teachers/studios based on Yellow/Orange schedule for warm-up and then we will have rehearsals either in the studios or in the theater. Unless we say different, ALWAYS report to studios first. If anything changes we will use remind/blogs to update you on schedule changes for the school day.
Every day this week, we begin after school rehearsals at 3:40 pm in the Theater. All dance majors and minors should report directly to the Theater after 4th period. We will take roll at 3:41 pm sharp, and then proceed with rehearsal process.
Also, make sure you have all shoes needed for your concert pieces every day! We will be running all pieces during the day as well as after school, so make sure you are prepared. And PLEASE put your name or initials in every piece of everything you will be wearing this week.
DANCE CONCERT GRADE – remember that you are getting a grade for your participation in this concert. Any tardies/absences (if you miss the rehearsal for your piece on stage, you are pulled from that piece), disrespectful/disruptive behavior, missed choreography, costume/hair not correct for dress rehearsal – all of these things can affect your grade! Make sure you are focused and on task during all classes and rehearsals this week. You all have worked very hard the past couple of months, and this week is crucial for us to be able to make this concert as strong as it can be.
See you in the studio – Full Out or Get Out!
I look forward to an incredible show this weekend!
